We are delighted to invite researchers working across the arts to participate in the GRS International Research Summer School 2027. Offered as a blended intensive course, the programme combines flexible digital activities with an in-person gathering in Bergen.

Co-Funded by Erasmus+, the summer school is a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) developed and hosted by the University of Bergen in collaboration with Gustav Mahler Private University for Music, Austria, and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Designed for PhD candidates and early-career researchers, the Summer School explores research in/on the arts through interdisciplinary exchange, offering a stimulating space to connect diverse methodologies, including theoretical, artistic and practice-based approaches. The course is open to researchers working across sound, music, performance, visual, digital and multimedia arts, design, and material-based practices, as well as those exploring the arts in relation to health, education and wider cultural and social contexts.

International exchange is central to the summer school, with a focus on dialogue and giving and receiving feedback throughout both the digital and in-person programme. Course participants will also be offered opportunities for mentorship with experienced researchers whose expertise is relevant to their projects.
